Master Plan Update

St. Leonard Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance Update

Status of Master Plan Update: The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners adopted the reorganized and updated St. Leonard Town Center Master Plan at its meeting on November 19, 2013. The board voted 4 yeas, 0 nays and 1 abstention (Commissioner Steve Weems) to adopt the master plan, as recommended by the Calvert County Planning Commission.

The master plan for the St. Leonard Town Center was initially adopted by the Board of County Commissioners in 1995, and subsequently amended in 1998. For the Master Plan update, ten public meetings were held, starting with the kick-off meeting, leading up to the ninth meeting – the public hearing on July 31, 2012, and culminating with the town hall meeting on August 20, 2012.

The Planning Commission considered comments on the May, 2012 draft plan and then prepared a revised plan. The Planning Commission approved the St. Leonard Town Center Master Plan and recommended its adoption by the Board of County Commissioners. The plan recommended for adoption is available online (see Plan Recommended for Adoption page). Hard copies of the plan are available from the Department of Community Planning and Building, emailing Planning and Zoning, or by calling 410-535-1600, ext. 2356.
