CALEA Accreditation
Community Feedback The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) seeks community feedback as part of its reaccreditation process with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Residents can share their insights on CCSO’s community involvement, public safety services and overall suitability for reaccreditation through CALEA’s public comment portal
This voluntary accreditation, recognized as the gold standard in public safety, helps ensure that agencies remain accountable to both the community and their own standards.
CALEA Accreditation Public Comment Portal The purpose of the public portal is to gather comments regarding an agency's compliance with CALEA standards, its engagement with the community, the delivery of public safety services, and its overall candidacy for accredited status. Comments can include both commendations and concerns. The main goal of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with valuable feedback to support ongoing improvement and encourage the pursuit of professional excellence.
IMPORTANT: CALEA is not an investigatory body; therefore, the public portal should not be used to submit information for investigative purposes. Additionally, submissions will receive only an acknowledgment of receipt—there will be no further response. However, the information provided will be considered in relation to its relevance to compliance with CALEA standards and the principles of CALEA® Accreditation.
